Structure of CESOThe Society is an incorporated body governed by the Council. The Council consists of 10 members, eight of whom are elected by members of the Society for a two year term, and represent four geographical areas in the Province (two from each). Two members of the Council are appointed by the Executive and serve as public members.At the initiation of each two year term, members elect from the Council an Executive, including a President, two Vice-Presidents (one engineer and one technologist/technician), one Treasurer and one Secretary.
The Council is responsible to conduct the business of the Society and to oversee the operation of the following committees as modeled under the Regulated Health Professions Amendment Act, 1992: Registration, Fitness to Practice, Quality Assurance, Discipline, Patient Relations, Complaints. These committees are comprised by both Council and Society members.

Practicing MemberAs a Practicing Member of the ceso, you are a person holding valid certification from the International Certification Committee (ICC), either engineer (CCE) or technologist (CBET) or technician (CBET), and are registered with the respective professional society, The Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) or The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologist and Technicians (OACETT), and you practice in the Province of Ontario.
Practicing Members are entitled to the following enhanced benefits of membership:
Associate MemberAs a Associate Member of the ceso, you are a person either not holding valid certification from the International Certification Committee (ICC), or are not registered with the respective professional society, The Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) or The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologist and Technicians (OACETT), or you do not practice in the Province of Ontario.
Practicing Members are entitled to the following benefits of membership:
Affiliate MemberAs a Affiliate Member of the ceso, you are a person practicing outside the Province of Ontario and holding valid certification from the International Certification Committee (ICC) or the equivalent national certification body for Clinical Engineers and Biomedical Engineering Technologists and Technicians.Dues for Affiliated Members are $40 per year plus GST for persons who are members of CMBES and $75 per year plus GST for persons who are not CMBES members.
Student MemberAs a Student Member of CESO, you are a person currently enrolled in an education program working towards certification from the International Certification Committee (ICC) and registration as either an engineer or technologist or technician, and have commenced training in an accredited educational program. You are not eligible to retain the Student Member status upon graduation.
